Presentation

O_live shares knowledge and skills about Olympism with children, their teachers, and schools. The project also targets institutions and society as a whole to promote civic values.

We hope that O_live will help strengthen the EU’s education and training systems through new, useful educational tools. It aims to highlight the concepts of fairness and social inclusion.

Objective

Teachers are on the front line when it comes to protecting students (ages 8-10) from any form of violence.

The O_live project aims to provide an innovative educational method that will enhance teachers’ ability to explore, together with their students, the values of democracy, tolerance, and respect within the context of the Games and the philosophy of Olympism.

Implementation

Acting responsibly, acting democratically, and acting fairly are three key issues that will be explored through non-formal educational activities. O_live relies on game-based and experiential learning techniques.

The approach is based on a combination of creative drama and sport—practices that are motivating, social, and fun.

Results

Our project offers workshops with an immediate learning effect and helps foster a learning environment. It also aims for a lasting impact in terms of civic education, democracy, and values.

The main outputs of the project are:

– A three-chapter handbook that includes step-by-step workshops using the method.
– A series of three videos to support the implementation of the method.
– A knowledge-sharing platform related to the theme, which also provides additional tools.
